When malted, this Abruzzi Rye infuses golden to orange hues into the beer. This malt also has a pronounced earthy malt flavor that comes along with the typical spicy rye notes.
This rye is part of the Southeast’s agricultural heritage. While it is a valuable feed crop, this heirloom rye has also proven worthy of distillers, brewers and bakers alike and is grown across the region. It has a rustic, earthy flavor that tastes a bit nutty — a popular base for whiskeys.
